The United States is proclaimed winner of the Spain Sail Grand Prix Andalusia-Cádiz
MADRID, 15 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish SailGP team was left without a final in the Spain Sail Grand Prix Andalucía-Cádiz and without being able to say goodbye to Cádiz with a sought-after victory, after a great first day but suffering this Sunday with the lack of wind, while the United States took the victory against ROCKWOOL Denmark and Australia.
The F50 Victoria arrived home in good shape and with possibilities, but a bad race 5 left it out of the final, after having touched the podium in race 4. The roosters started with a comeback, after starting very far back with little wind , moving up positions to surpass Canada and Germany to be fourth.
However, the Spanish team failed to fly in the second race of the day, quickly losing positions to last position. The Cádiz final was once again resisted for Los Gallos who, although they leave Cádiz with a bittersweet taste, are already looking ahead and thinking about the opportunity in Dubai, the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix Presented by P&O Marinas that will be held on the 9th and 10th from December.
“It has been incredible to see how the Red Tide has given itself to us throughout the weekend. For us it is priceless to see an atmosphere like the one these days. Our goal again is to continue learning and building a solid foundation that allows us continue to grow,” said Spanish team captain Diego Botín, who teamed up with Florian Trittel, Nicole van der Velden as grinder and Joan Cardona.
The winners of the Spain Sail Grand Prix | Andalucía – Cádiz were Jimmy Spithill’s. The United States had a great day, maintaining positions that guaranteed their ticket to the final. Despite coming out last, the North American team showed off to beat the big favorites of the season ROCKWOOL Denmark and Australia, which continues to lead the general classification.
