Rafa Nadal: “I appreciate the vote of confidence from the Australian Open, I am working hard to return”

MADRID, 11 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Rafa Nadal thanked this Wednesday for the “vote of confidence of the Australian Open”, a tournament that revealed “exclusively” that the Manacor player will return to the courts in the first ‘Grand Slam’ of 2024, so the champion of 22 ‘greats’ insisted that he is “working hard to return as soon as possible.”

“I appreciate the vote of confidence from the Australian Open, I am training every day and working hard to return as soon as possible,” the Spaniard wrote in a message on social networks.

The director of the tournament, Craig Tiley, asked on the ‘The Today Show’ program on the ‘Nine’ network by the Japanese Naomi Osaka, responded that the 2024 event was going to feature “the return of some of the greats and those champions who have been out for a couple of years.”

“We can exclusively reveal that Rafa will return. He has been out for most of the year, and speaking with him in recent days he has confirmed that he will return, which makes us very excited. It is incredible,” declared the director of the ‘grande ‘ Australian.

The Balearic tennis player, winner of 22 Grand Slams, continues recovering from the injury that occurred in the last edition of the Australian Open. The former number one has already warned that 2024 could be his last year as a tennis player, but Tiley is clear that he will not go to Melbourne “unless he believes he can win the tournament.”

“You always get your hopes up because you want people like Rafa to be here. So far the first signs have been really good,” added Tiley about the double champion of the event (2009 and 2022).
