MADRID, 9 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Real Betis center back Marc Bartra will undergo surgery “next week” to resolve a partial injury to the Achilles tendon in his right leg as a result of Haglund syndrome, a cause of posterior tendon-bursal entrapment of the heel due to a tendonitis, according to a statement.
“Marc Bartra suffers a partial injury to the Achilles tendon in his right leg as a result of Haglund syndrome,” the Andalusian team reported on their website.
Specifically, Bartra suffers from an inflammation of the fluid-filled sac (bursa) located at the back of the heel bone or calcaneus, between the posterior and upper area of that bone and the Achilles tendon, associated with a bone deformity or prominence of the the posterosuperior area of the calcaneus, which is called Haglund’s deformity.
A physical problem for which, “after the studies and complementary tests that he has undergone these days,” he must “undergo surgery.” “The center back will undergo surgery next week and the recovery times will depend on his post-surgical evolution,” added the statement issued by Real Betis.
The center back was substituted at half-time of the match against Valencia, corresponding to the eighth day of LaLiga EA Sports 2023-2024. Bartra has only participated in four games in all competitions, absent in another seven.
