On the horizon are the first two days in the League of Nations
MADRID, 14 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Coach Montse Tomé will be presented this Friday in Las Rozas (Madrid), starting at 4:00 p.m., as the new coach of the Spanish Women’s Absolute, and will also announce her first call-up for matchdays 1 and 2 in the League of Nations.
As indicated this Thursday by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) on its website, Tomé’s presentation will take place in the Luis Aragonés Hall of the Las Rozas Football City. On the horizon are those events in the Nations League, a new UEFA tournament that will serve as qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
“Spain will face Sweden far from our borders and will face Switzerland in Córdoba. They will be two crucial duels in the inauguration of this new tournament,” said the RFEF in its press release, but without mentioning anything about the players who in their day they resigned from being summoned.
On August 25, after Luis Rubiales initially refused to resign as president of the RFEF, 81 footballers signed a document to demand profound changes in said institution. Until that happened, the 23 new world champions and 58 other players would renounce any call-up.
For this reason, and despite the subsequent departures of Luis Rubiales and former coach Jorge Vilda, uncertainty looms over how Tomé will configure the list, who until a few days ago was the second coach within Vilda’s own staff.
