BARCELONA, 20 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Astralpool CN Sabadell won the Women’s Water Polo Division of Honor this Saturday after beating Assolim CN Mataró 10-6 in their Can Llong pool, to win their 20th League title in a third match that, like the entire final , was adjusted.
David Palma’s players, who were playing this third and last game at home, built the victory over a final stretch of the third quarter that was key to winning the third consecutive League title, number 20 in their record to consolidate as a club with more success in domestic competition.
What was the ninth official match between Sabadell and Mataró this season ended in favor of the locals, although Mataró won the first quarter (1-2) thanks to a goal from their star Anni Espar.
But Sabadell reacted with a 4-2 lead in the second set to go 5-4 up at halftime. An equality that continued in the water until, in the final stretch of that third quarter, the Vallesanas shot up on the scoreboard with a partial 3-0 to lay the foundations of their victory.
The four goals from Catharina Van der Sloot and Judith Forca were too much for Dani Ballart’s Mataró — winner of their only league title four seasons ago — who had their top scorer in Rita Keszthelyi-Nagy, with 2 goals.
