Prades: “We have overpaid for the irregularity shown throughout the game”

MADRID, 8 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women’s handball coach, José Ignacio Prades, has stated that his players have “paid excessively for the irregularity” shown during their draw this Saturday against Austria (28-28) in the first leg of the qualifying playoff for the next World championship.

“There have been two quite different parts. A first part where I think the team has come out very well, they have entered the game very well and have made very few mistakes. We have had a very high efficiency, we have run very well and we have done a fairly good job Well, maybe we got a little unbalanced defensively at the end”, Prades told the Royal Spanish Handball Federation (RFEBM).

“I think that in the second half we haven’t been so good, especially at the offensive level, which is what had kept us going in the first half with those four rental goals. In the second half, with defensive work we haven’t counteracted the mistakes in attack”, added the coach of the ‘Guerreras’.

Prades stressed that “there was no balance”, that for this reason they had “suffered against a team that has worked hard, with the weapons they have” and that they had “paid excessively for the irregularity that we have shown throughout the game, especially in that second half.”

“We always have to look to see that we have a second half to play, which will be in Spain with our people, where we will be much more supported and we hope to play a good game”, commented the coach from Alicante.

Finally, Prades has advocated “analyzing where we can improve in some aspect between now and Wednesday”, with this in mind in the second leg. “And, above all, raise your head because on Wednesday we are at stake to be in a World Cup and that is very important for everyone”, he concluded.
