MADRID, 27 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Atlético de Madrid player Virginia Torrecilla has renewed one more season with the mattress team, as announced by the entity this Friday, which has also offered the footballer a position as ambassador of her foundation.
The 27-year-old Balearic midfielder will continue one more campaign defending the red and white colours. “In addition to extending her contract as a soccer player for one season, Virginia also becomes an ambassador for the projects of the Atlético de Madrid Foundation,” the mattress club reported.
“It means a lot to me. After everything I’ve been through, joining the Fundación Atlético de Madrid and being able to help people is something unique, something I had never thought of and something very special because when I got sick, people helped me a lot and I I would love to help and pass on to those people the same thing that was passed on to me,” he said.
After overcoming his illness this season, Torrecilla returned to exercising on the pitch individually in July, while he joined the group in September. After almost five months of hard individual and collective work with the rest of her teammates, the international returned to a call in January for the semifinal of the Spanish Super Cup.
Just a few days later, on January 23, Vir experienced one of the most special moments of his life and sports career when he returned to the pitch and played the last minutes of the Super Cup final against FC Barcelona. Since her return to official competition, the Balearic midfielder has also played minutes in the duels against Sevilla, UDG Tenerife and Athletic Club.
“Renewing with Atlético de Madrid until 2023 means a lot to me, especially the club’s confidence in me and knowing that I can spend another year with all my teammates and with this club that means so much to me after what it has given me” Torrecilla said.
