De Frutos strikes down Elche and Levante clings to the dream of permanence

Levante is reluctant to throw in the towel. Led by a stellar Jorge de Frutos, the Granota team beat a thick Elche to feed the dream of permanence (3-0). Lisci’s team has it complicated; he is still the bottom of LaLiga, but he sees how salvation is now six points away, the advantage that a Granada in free fall holds.

THE BEST The points for a needy Levante
WORST The little that Elche proposed

And that the duel began with a scare for Levante. Still clueless, before the first minute of the game was over, he saw how Cárdenas had to show off to deflect a dangerous shot from Lucas Boyé. Elche promised, but that was the only chance for Francisco’s team in the first half, too respectful of the competition’s red lantern and not knowing how to play with his logical anxieties.

The Granota team settled down in the match, first feeling strong in defense and then stretching thanks to ‘roadrunner’ De Frutos. The winger was the most prominent, starring in several incursions before being able to provide José Luis Morales with the goal that would break the match (37′). Roger’s robbery, De Frutos’ sprint and ‘Comandante”s deadly shot.

Elche tried to put one more gear after going through the break, but it was not the night for Francisco’s team. To his shyness were added the doubts of his defense in a new ride by De Frutos, who entered the area and then pocketed a loose ball that was not properly cleared.

To add insult to injury, Gumbau’s expulsion for a direct red card definitively buried Elche’s options, which left thrashed when Melero scored the final 3-0. Three gold points ahead of Levante’s fight to continue in the elite.
