Two of the galactic signings of PSG do not carburet

PSG’s summer was undoubtedly one of the most spectacular ever to be seen in European football. The Parisian team invested in big stars just one year before the World Cup in Qatar and proof of this are the incorporations of Achraf, Donnarumma, Wijnaldum, Sergio Ramos and, above all, Messi. However, most of the signings have not had the desired effect on the team and there are some that the French press already regards as disappointments.

The paradigmatic case, clearly, is that of Sergio Ramos. The Andalusian center-back landed in Paris in July after missing the Eurocup due to injury and could not make his debut until November 28 after spending five months in dry dock. The Spanish international, after two weeks away again due to muscle fatigue, played his second Ligue 1 game on Wednesday, against Lorient, entering the break and ending up sent off for a double yellow in just four minutes. Three games in six months are the poor baggage of the camero in Paris, something that has come to generate rumors of a possible contract termination by PSG.

Another disappointment in the market is Wijnaldum. The midfielder rejected Barcelona to sign for the Parisian team and has not yet been able to settle in France. In fact, rumors about the player’s possible departure in January have increased in recent weeks and the midfielder acknowledged back in October that he was not quite well in Paris due to lack of minutes. Players like Verratti, Gueye, Danilo, Paredes or even Ander Herrera have had more prominence than the Dutchman this season.

Of the rest of the signings, it cannot be said that they have been a success either. Achraf Hakimi started the season like a plane (3 goals and 2 assists during the first two months of competition), but the system does not empower him at all. The former Inter player shows in every game that he is a winger and not a winger and that has prevented him from performing for the last two months. He no longer has the same clarity as in September to combine with Mbappé and how far Pochettino places him from the rival area reduces his potential. On the other hand, Donnarumma has alternated the ownership with Keylor without settling definitively and MessiAlthough he has very poor figures in Ligue 1 (one goal and four assists), he is the team’s top scorer in the Champions League and was decisive against Manchester City.
