It was in March last year that local press reported that Mahra Sheikha, 30, was engaged to Mana Al Maktoum. The bride’s father, the Emir of Dubai, was involved in one of the most controversial divorces in recent times at the end of 2021 when his sixth wife, Princess Haya of Jordan, sister of King Abdullah, separated from him. In December of that year, he was ordered to pay a record sum of more than 700 million dollars to his ex-wife and their children, Al Jalila and Zayed. Princess Haya then became solely responsible for the medical care and schooling of the two youngest children.
