MADRID, Jan. 17 (SportsFinding) –
The Al Sadd of Spanish coach Xavi Hernández was proclaimed champion of the Qatar Cup this Friday by winning (4-0) to Al Duhail, second title from the bench for the former player of FC Barcelona, who began his role as coach six months ago.
Those of Xavi made the final easy that they also played in their Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium and gave no option to the team that runs the Portuguese Rui Faria. The goals of Nam Tae-hee and Baghdad Bounedjahs, with double, left an early 3-0.
In the second half, on penalty, Akram Afif signed the win and the title, which the former Atlético de Madrid Gabi captain raised as captain. Xavi successfully culminates a week in which his future was seen at times outside of Al Sadd, in talks with Barça.
The Qatari club and Xavi himself acknowledged the culé score but the former Barça decided to keep precisely the Cup in mind. For Catalan it is his second title as coach, after the Super Cup they won in August as a debut.
“I am very happy for the title and the great level shown. Today and the semifinal against Al Rayyan have been two of Al Sadd's best games this season,” Xavi said, celebrating the 71st title of the club's history. .
