Women's football will be declared professional on June 15

The president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), Jose Manuel Franco, announced this Tuesday that the Government will declare women's football professional on June 15.

Franco has taken advantage of a visit to the Congress of Deputies to make this announcement, which he has framed in “our commitment with equality in sports ”. The leader has described the declaration of women's football as a professional “historic milestone.”

With this qualification, the players of tournaments such as the Primera Iberdrola, the highest category of Spanish football, will have the same category than LaLiga Santander or LaLiga SmartBank footballers.

“We hope to have the support for unanimous of all estate
sports and political, because advancing in equality matters is a global benefit for society as a whole ”, Franco stressed.

The statement will be accompanied, as announced by the head of Spanish sport, by a spectacular increase in financial endowment dedicated to women's sport, which will be multiplied by ten compared to the previous year.
