One of the details left by the presentation of Axel Witsel was his answer when they asked him about the memory he had of the fans of the Atletico Madrid after having played in his day with the Zenit in the Vicente Calderón and later with Borussia Dortmund in the Wanda Metropolitano: “Very good atmosphere here. It was a very hot match. I want to know this atmosphere, but this time being on the good side”.

“Being on the good side”, sounds like an answer for the words he said Courtois when asked before the last final of Champions League because of what happened in Lisboa. When he lost in 2014 the final against the Real Madrid: “Now I’m on the good side of history.”

Something that, as is logical, did not sit well with the fans of the Atletico Madrid that a few hours after the Real Madrid proclaimed champion of the Champions they came to tear off his plaque from the still Walk of Legends and future Centennial Walk.

Now, Witsel it seems that he noticed on his previous visits to Madrid to be measured at Atlético what is the good side…
