When is the playoff final between Girona and Elche played?

As La Liga announced before the start of the dispute for promotion to the First Division, there are already dates set for the final of the Playoff. The final round to be promoted to First was agreed “with the RFEF within the Monitoring Commission of the Coordination Agreement held on July 31”.

Thus, the end of the longest and most complicated Playoff is approaching. The last ticket to the Santander League already has contenders: Elche – Girona.

Dates

– Going: August 20 at the Martínez Valero at 22:00.

– Return: August 23 in Montilivi at 10:00 p.m.

It is important to remember the rules of the promotion phase for the final. In case of a tie, the value of the goals in the opposite field is worth more than the local goals. If for equality in goals, it was necessary to go to extra time in the second leg and the tie continued, there would be no penalties and the best-placed team in the regular season in the league would qualify.

Therefore, a 6th classified like Elche will be measured against a 5th like Girona. From a historical perspective, It stands out that only three who remained on the bronze of the regular league podium subsequently achieved promotion to the First Division in a total of nine seasons, which become ten with the elimination of Real Zaragoza: Valladolid (2011/12), Almería ( 2012/13) and Getafe (2016/17).
