Week 14 College Football Playoff Rankings: Heading into the Southern Conference championship game, Georgia football remains atop the list.
Athens — Georgia is going to be ranked #1 going into the SEC title game. Georgia is ranked first n the College Football Playoff rankings for the third week in a row.
There were some adjustments in the standings on Tuesday, though. The Michigan Wolverines upset Ohio State 30–24 over the weekend, moving them up to No. 2. Florida State is now ranked No. 4, while Washington is now ranked No. 3.
The only team among the top 8 that isn’t playing this weekend is Ohio State. The setback this past weekend caused the Buckeyes to fall to No. 6.
In the SEC title game on Saturday, the Bulldogs will play the Crimson Tide. The kickoff is scheduled to air on CBS at 4 p.m. ET.
Even though Georgia is ranked first, the Bulldogs are not guaranteed to advance to the College Football Playoff.
Against their respective conference champions, No. 5 Oregon, No. 7 Texas, and No. 8 Alabama are all able to pull off thrilling victories this coming Saturday.
The teams have faced off in the SEC title game before when a postseason berth was at stake. Georgia lost this game against Alabama 35-28 in 2018.
Although both teams advanced to the College Football Playoffs that season, the Crimson Tide prevailed against Georgia in the 2021 edition of the event.
When the two teams faced off throughout the 2022 National Championship Game, the Bulldogs prevailed over Alabama. However, Georgia admits that there won’t be much of an impact from the game on Saturday.
