MADRID, 18 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Vithas health group will be the official sponsor of the ‘Carrera x Ukraine. We move for peace’, a 5-kilometre solidarity march that will be held on May 28, starting at 11:00 a.m., organized by Madrid Futuro in collaboration with the Embassy of Ukraine in Spain and the Madrid City Council, reports said group in a statement.
The aim of the march is to raise funds that will go entirely to Caritas, the Red Cross and Unicef, entities that, together with local Ukrainian associations, support refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine and provide support to local NGOs on the ground.
During the tour, which will run from the Plaza de Cuzco to the Paseo de Recoletos, the participants will wear blue or yellow t-shirts (the colors of the Ukrainian flag) in defense of peace and as a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
In addition to covering the logistical and operational costs of the race together with other Spanish companies, Vithas will provide physiotherapy assistance to the participants. To do this, it will install two tents attended by specialists in physiotherapy both at the starting point and at the finish line.
Dr. Pedro Rico, general director of Vithas, explained that the company aspires to be a “socially responsible” company, and that the serious humanitarian crisis that Ukraine is suffering due to the Russian invasion challenges everyone.
“Our support for the ‘Race for Ukraine’ does nothing but channel the feelings of the majority of our patients and the 12,000 professionals who make up Vithas; professionals who are especially sensitive to the pain of others, since our daily work is precisely to prevent people from suffering”, Rico commented.
In addition to sponsoring the ‘Carrera x Ukraine’, the general director of Vithas is in talks with the Embassy of Ukraine to collaborate with other urgent needs. So he agreed with the Minister Counselor and Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Ukraine, Dmytro Matiuschenko, and with the military attaché, Serhii Vtoykh, during a meeting they held.
Registration for the race, at 5 euros for children and 10 euros for adults, can be made through the website https://madridfuturoxucrania.com/.
