Víctor Francos: “We are very obsessed with adapted sports and Paralympics”

Carballeda, to the athletes facing Paris 2024: “Be very careful with injuries in the next 403 days”

MADRID, 21 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), Víctor Francos, admitted this Friday that within his body there is “a lot of obsession with Paralympics” and asked Spanish athletes to “go all out” for the Paralympic Games in Paris next year.

Víctor Francos, together with Miguel Carballeda, president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee, received this Friday at the Council headquarters a representation of the Spanish team that won eleven medals in the World Paralympic Athletics Championships held in Paris and congratulated them in person.

“We are here to congratulate you and encourage you for the 2024 Games. That’s when we have to ‘kill’, there is no excuse, we have to go all out. In this house we are very obsessed with adapted sports, with Paralympics”, he commented during the reception.

Francos also stressed that “the relationship” with the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE) “is extraordinary” because its athletes are “in good hands.” “And you also have all the love in the world from us,” added the leader.

In this sense, he predicted a good season to culminate next year’s Paralympic Games with success. “That we see each other during this year, so that the 2024 Games live up to the expectations that we have placed in you,” she declared.

For his part, Miguel Carballeda thanked the athletes for “the effort” made, their “behavior” and their “way of going through life.” “There are many ways to represent in the world a group as large as this one in our country,” he continued, recalling the more than 4.3 million men and women with some type of disability in Spain.

Similarly, the president of the CPE stressed that the Spanish athletes had faced the World Cup “always cheerful and happy, and above all competitive.” “When it comes to competing, few friends. And be very ‘careful’ with injuries in the next 403 days,” Carballeda concluded in an affable tone.

Spanish athletics for people with disabilities shone at the last World Championship, where they totaled eleven medals, two more than in 2019, thanks to the successes of Yassine Ouhdadi (gold and silver), Adiaratou Iglesias (gold and silver), Gerard Descarrega and his two guides José Marvizón and Guillermo Rojo (silver), Sara Andrés (silver), Álvaro del Amo (two bronzes), Joan Munar (bronze), Judith Tor tosa (bronze) and Nagore Folgado-Javier Zaplana (bronze).
