Vicky Losada: “Spain must be united and maintain the style to win the European Championship”

BARCELONA, 2 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Manchester City player Vicky Losada assured that Spain will have to be “united” in order to win this summer’s European Championship in England, an appointment that will be lost by not being included in Jorge Vilda’s squad and that, however, she will continue to pay attention and wish the best to his colleagues.

“What Spain has to do to win the European Championship is to be united, that both the bench and the starters always add up, maintain the style of play and, above all, go out with confidence because all the teams have a lot of respect for Spain,” he assured. in statements provided to Europa Press.

Losada, ambassador of ‘American Pistachio Growers’, assured that the group of Spain (Group B, with Germany, Finland and Denmark) will be “very difficult”. “The great rival to beat is Germany, without a doubt. But both the Danes and the Finns are very tough teams. The key to winning is to maintain our style of play, the personality that Spain has, the talent and, above all, not to commit lots of mistakes,” he warned.

“Spain has grown a lot in recent years, that’s why the respect from the other teams. Also the role of Barça is very important at a European level”, he valued on why Spain is now among the favorites and causes some fear in the rivals.

He added that the base of the team is Barça and that this makes Spain more feared. “Having won the ‘Champions’, having reached the final in the last three years. Most of the players that make up the team are from Barça and I think that, at an international level, is something powerful”, he explained.

As for what he thinks of not being able to be in that European Championship, he acknowledged that he must continue working. “I always have an eye on the national team. I work and train for it. I have a lot of experience. I’ve played two World Cups and two Europeans; and in the end, the important thing for me is to add to the team,” he said.

On the other hand, about Barça, he commented that his former team is still the best despite losing the ‘Champions’ against Lyon. “I think whatever team Barça has in front of them, without a doubt, Barça is still the best team in the world. What happens is that sometimes you arrive better or worse and in this case I think the girls didn’t arrive at their best. They had games where they showed a little more vulnerability,” he acknowledged.

Asked if it is unfair to play a Cup final in a stadium of 5,000 people when Barça has filled the Camp Nou twice, she commented that that would not be the word. “I think that if we want to continue investing in the visibility of women’s football, it is important that, especially finals or matches that are so powerful at the media level, they take place in the ideal setting. I think that Spain has many options and another stadium could have been chosen, for sure “, he thought about that final of the Copa de la Reina in Alcorcón.

“The truth is that I experienced the record of 91,000 people at the Camp Nou with great emotion. Since I was little I have always gone to that field to see Barça and I never imagined being able to see my teammates or the Barça women’s team playing there and I think that it was a very good historical environment with a very good educational environment for boys and girls. Hopefully it will continue to be repeated, “he added.

Losada, a former Blaugrana captain, would see it good, although “rare”, to play as a ‘citizen’ in a full Camp Nou against her former team. “It would be strange for me, but I would love it. I would love to arrive with City to play a match against Barça at the Camp Nou. In the end, I only remember as a little girl a class on Barça that I did with Deco and Silvinho at the Camp Nou , but doing it as a professional player would be a very special moment for me,” she acknowledged.

In this sense, it does not close the doors to return to Barça, still as a player. “Yes, I see myself at Barça, but right now it’s difficult. I’m still active and I really want to continue playing. I look good, but Barça is my home and it always will be and, hopefully, I can come back in the future” , he opined.

At the moment she is still at Manchester City, in a “hard year” for the team but “very good” for her on a personal level. “The team has helped me a lot to be with them quickly. I like the coach, he is very professional. He likes to play football. It is a bit of the Barça version, but with some more British details and the truth is that I want to start next year,” he said.

Despite his injury, he managed 8 goals in the League with City and next year he hopes to continue the good streak of 13 games in a row won by the team at the end of the championship, to achieve the pass to the next edition of the ‘ Champions’, and to be able to fight for the title.

“We, at the end of the season, won the last thirteen and, without a doubt, winning the League is a goal for the team because it hasn’t won it for five years and, furthermore, playing a good role in ‘Champions'”, she said about the goals of the ‘citizen’ for next year.
