Vicente Moreno: “Luka Romero's heart was going 2,000 revolutions”

Vicente Romero, coach of Mallorca, gave the alternative in the defeat against Real Madrid (2-0) to Luka Romero, born in Mexico but with Argentine nationality, with only 15 years and 229 days, being the youngest debutant in the League and to whom, he assures, “his heart was going 2,000 revolutions”.

“Above all, more than telling him a lot on a tactical level, trying to reassure him. I put my hand on his heart and it was going 2,000 revolutions, we are talking about a boy who is 15 years old. He is a boy who if we have put him there to play is because we think he deserved it and that he has conditions. In training we are giving him stimuli and he is taking them and getting better every day. It was a matter of looking for a moment to debut and to see the future, you will see why he is a great player, ”he told Movistar +.

A Vicente Romero who is happy with the work done despite the defeat: “The feeling is that you can't ask the team for much more. Our players have played a good game, we have competed against a team like Real Madrid, and in their field, which is not easy. In many moments we have been better than them, but this in the end must be translated into goals, into a result. If you don't translate it into goals, they have an easier time finding it ”, he analyzed.

“Madrid has many arguments, many things. He has quality, they are capable of doing good soccer and he has a coach who does a very good job. Mallorca has made a great effort physically, now looking at the data we have run more than them, both in volume and intensity. But we have also been able to not throw the ball, to try to put Madrid in trouble and I think that at many times we have. We have found holes where we thought we were going to find them, but we have lacked some evil in the end zone, ”he continued.

The Mallorca coach did not want to enter into controversy before the refereeing performance, especially focused on a possible foul by Dani Carvajal on Dani Rodríguez that his players asked for on the field of play, but that the referee, Melero López, did not appreciate.

“There is not much to say either, in the end they are actions that surely I see in one way and, for example, you see them in another, and we are not going to agree. Nor should we think much about something that does not depend on us. It was up to us to play a great game, in many phases we have, but in the end the details decide the match for a team with a lot of quality such as Madrid, ”he said.

Finally, Vicente Moreno assured that his team, which is, with one more game, three points from the salvation that Eibar (29) marks, continues to believe that it is possible to continue one more season in LaLiga Santander.

“You stay, in quotes, happy about the team's work, but it is true that you stay close to achieving a good result. It also happened two days ago against Villarreal. It also tells you about the team's mental strength, because you stay close and sometimes it is difficult to continue, but this team continues. We came here with the intention of winning, even if it wasn't the most favorable place. We have visualized the points that may be necessary, when and how we can earn them, and we are going to leave everything to achieve it ”, he declared.
