The Dutch Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen (Red Bull) took pole position at the Austrian Grand Prix, the ninth round of the World Cup, in a session marked by the time trial dance caused by compliance with the track limits, with the Ferrari of Monegasque Charles Leclerc and Spanish Carlos Sainz completing the podium, while Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) finished seventh.
Verstappen was the best again with a 1:05.742 on a placid Saturday, which was only altered by the times that were eliminated by not respecting the margins of Spielberg’s layout in Q1 and Q2. Without the appearance of rain finally, Leclerc (1:05.983) and Sainz (1:06:012) were two tenths behind. Fernando Alonso, without the pace that was seen in other Grand Prix, could only be seventh, half a second behind the Dutchman.
