Van Vleuten will lead the Movistar Team in the women’s Tour de France

MADRID, 20 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Dutch cyclist Annemiek van Vleuten, gold in the time trial and silver on the road at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, will lead the Movistar Team in the women’s Tour de France, which will be held from June 24 to 31 between Paris and La Super Planche des Belles Filles, the telephone team announced in a statement on Wednesday.

Movistar will participate in the first ‘Grande Boucle’ of this new era -after forty consecutive appearances in the men’s event since 1983- with a team very similar to the one that won the Giro Donne ten days ago.

The team led by Sebastián Unzué and Jorge Sanz will form with Annemiek van Vleuten, the Danish Emma Norsgaard, the Cuban Arlenis Sierra, the Colombian Paula Patiño and the French Aude Biannic, who will be joined by the Spanish Sheyla Gutiérrez, the main novelty regarding Italy’s lineup.
