Valencia asks for an investigation and regrets that the players were “forced” to play

Valencia issued a statement this Sunday to once again show all its support for Mouctar Diakhaby after the central defender denounced having received a racist insult (“shit black”) from the Cádiz player Juan Cala and asked that this complaint be investigated. But the Mestalla club also regretted that no decision was made (thus targeting the referee, the League and the Federation) and that its players were “forced” to return to the field of play after having withdrawn from it in solidarity with Your partner.

“Mouctar Diakhaby has today become another victim of racism in football. After suffering an intolerable racist insult, he has still seen the yellow card for protesting. We are proud of the support Diakhaby has received from his teammates and of the decision to leave the field en bloc, ”the club said in a statement.

“We trust that this event will be investigated,” claimed the entity.

The club said that to its “disappointment” no “decision” was made and clarified that for its part “at no time does it urge its players to return to the pitch.”

“The referee conveys to the players the potential consequences of not returning to the field of play. The players, forced to play under threat of penalty after the racist insults and the yellow card to Diakhaby, decide to return to the field of play ”, he said.

The club said that the player himself asked “his teammates to go back out onto the pitch and fight” and that “their teammates have respected their will.”

“What happened today should never happen again in football. Valencia CF is against racism and expresses its full support for Diakhaby. Today is a sad day for our sport. What we have lost today is not a match, today the respect and spirit of football and sport has been lost ”, he lamented.
