UD Ibiza fires Carcedo after defeat with Sporting

The UD Ibiza announced this Saturday, after the defeat against Sporting de Gijón by 0-2 in Can Misses, the dismissal of Juan Carlos Carcedo as coach. In a brief statement, the club announced the dismissal of the La Rioja coach, who last season achieved the historic promotion to LaLiga SmartBank.

“We want to thank his work and commitment since his arrival in the 20-21 season,” said the entity whose board of directors is chaired by Amadeo Salvo. “We wish him the greatest successes in his professional career,” the document stated.

Carcedo leaves Ibiza with 25 points after the first round of the competition, which according to the figures that are handled would mean half permanence in the silver category, which could be estimated at about 50 points. The Pitiusos have scored 19 goals and have conceded 23.

The Ibizan team was this week eliminated from the Copa del Rey by Ponferradina, and does not win at home, at the Can Misses-Power Electronics stadium, since last October 23 when they beat Fuenlabrada (3-1). Their last victory dates back to November 7, when they beat Real Sociedad B 0-1. In the last seven games, the islanders have only scored two goals: the aforementioned against Real B and the one that served to tie with Girona (1-1). In addition, they have only added three points of the last 18 possible. The bad dynamics has cost Juan Carlos Carcedo his job, for whom the club is now looking for a replacement.
