Tyler Kalinoski: “We have a great team and high expectations”

MADRID, 16 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Shooting guard Tyler Kalinoski was very happy after his arrival at Unicaja, a club “with a lot of tradition and history” and a squad that he sees as “a great team” that should have “high expectations” for next season.

“We have a great team and expectations are high. The first thing is to qualify for the Basketball Champions League. We have to work very hard, but I am optimistic to achieve great things,” Kalinoski declared in his official presentation with Unicaja in statements published by the own club.

The American with a Belgian passport arrives from the Río Breogán, with whom he had already faced the Malaga team last year. “I already knew the organization. It is a club with a lot of tradition and history, we are in the process of training and waiting for the games to come,” he said.

For Tyler Kalinoski “it was important to speak with Ibon Navarro”, who convinced him through “the enthusiasm for great challenges and aspirations” that the entity from Malaga has. “I played against Unicaja and I know it’s a great club with great aspirations, that’s what motivated me to come,” he added.

On the track, Kalinoski spoke about his possibility of adapting to other positions. “I’m more comfortable shooting guard, but I’ll do whatever the team needs,” he said. Last season he averaged 11.3 points in the Endesa League.

Along with Kalinoski, Tyson Carter was introduced, a 24-year-old point guard who arrives from Zenit Saint Petersburg, who was also optimistic about the season that is about to begin. “We have a very good team and very good players, some with a lot of experience and versatility,” he said.

The American assures that he is “wanting to start” and that he believes that “a good team has been made”. Personally, he defined himself as someone versatile. “I can play point guard or shooting guard, make my teammates play or play for myself, I’m comfortable with both,” he said.

“I was sure that he would come here and I was very happy for Unicaja’s interest. It was important for me to play here last year, I loved the atmosphere in the pavilion. I also looked at the way their point guards played, and I thought that could fit in Malaga. I heard good things about the Endesa League and I was excited to compete in it one day”, explained Carter, who faced Unicaja last season with the Greek side Lavrio.
