Tuesday afternoons, the most popular time to run in Spain

MADRID, 22 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Did you know that Tuesday is the most popular day to go for a run? That the favorite time is 7 in the afternoon? Or that the average weekly running training is 2 days? These are some of the conclusions revealed by the annual summary of users of Polar Flow, the application of the Polar brand of GPS training devices, among 400,000 Spanish athletes.

The study once again places running as the number one sport in Spain, followed by walking and strength sports, and points out that Friday is the day when Spaniards practice the least sport.

Are you one of those who thought it was Monday? Well, the data says otherwise. The annual Polar Flow summary reflects that sports activity has recovered in 2021 after the stoppage caused in 2020 by the COVID pandemic and is close to the figures prior to the 2019 coronavirus.

Among the most prominent figures in the Polar summary, it is observed that the average distance each time you go out for a run is 7.5 kilometers, higher than the 7.2 in 2020; that the average time invested in each session is 47 minutes, one more than in 2020, and that the average speed is 10 kilometers per hour.

In addition, the average calories consumed in each workout is 522 kilocalories. By months, January was the one with the highest average number of training sessions (48 minutes) and when the most average calories were consumed (541 kilocalories), although it was in November when the average distance of each exit was highest (7.9 kilometers) and faster (10.3 kilometers per hour).

On the other hand, October has been the month in which more running training has been done by users on average (6.8 sessions), which has caused it to also be the one that has registered the most kilometers of average traveled (53 kilometers).

The total figures show the good moment of sport in Spain, since more than 4 million running activities and more than 31 million kilometers were registered in 2021 in which the Spanish wanted to regain shape.
