MADRID, 12 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish rider Toni Bou (Repsol Honda) has defended his leadership in the X-Trial World Championship after finishing second in the second test, held in Wiener Neustadt (Austria), in which Jaime Busto, also a Spaniard, won (GasGas).
Bou led both the first and second rounds, qualifying for the final in first position with a seven-point advantage over the second. However, two errors in two of the areas that hosted the final round left him with no chance for victory, which went to Jaime Busto.
Veteran Adam Raga (TRRS) completed the podium, while Gabriel Marcelli (Repsol Honda) stayed on the verge of the final, fourth. Thus, Toni Bou remains the leader with 38 points, five ahead of Busto, with Marcelli third (24). The X-Trial will return to Spain on March 25 with its test in Pamplona.
Bou described the night as “complicated”. “But we are left with the positive, and that is that I was able to be on the podium with the second position and score points for the championship. We have won the first and the second round; it’s a pity that I had problems in the final round in the second and fourth sector. We added points and that is important for the championship; our objective in the next race in Pamplona will be to maintain the lead”, he indicated.
