Toledo enjoys the Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank Circuit

The city of Toledo has hosted this Sunday the third stop of the Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank 2023, organized by the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB), an event in which 448 players have participated distributed in 112 teams of all categories and which has brought together more than 3,000 spectators to watch the 232 matches played.

After Vigo and Córdoba, the emblematic Puerta de Bisagra in the Castilian-La Mancha capital was the scene of a beautiful day of basketball, which took place from 10:00 am until mid-afternoon. In addition to the competition itself, there have been matches in the wheelchair basketball exhibition category, a specialty that is present in all the days of Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank this year.

The event has had the institutional support of the Castilla-La Mancha Community Board, the Toledo City Council and the Castilla-La Mancha Basketball Federation, as well as the collaboration of a team of volunteers attached to the FEB Volunteer Program -CaixaBank.

Shooting and skill contests have also been held, led by FEB Ambassador Fernando Romay, and at the end of the day prizes have been distributed to the winning teams in each category. The fourth stop of this 2023 edition will take place next Wednesday June 28 in Madrid. The new mayor of Toledo, Carlos Velázquez, used his baton for the first time on the circuit. “It is a pleasure for me to be here when I have been the mayor for just 24 hours. It is my first official act, and there could not have been a better one. I want to thank and congratulate the organizers of this great day, it has been a magnificent day that it will give us even more impetus to our project of being the European Capital of Sport”, he indicated.

For his part, José Luis Campo Ruano, Director of Institutions of CaixaBank’s Territorial Department, defined the event as “special and spectacular”. “It’s a lot of fun for all those who participate and for those of us who are with them. They live the values ​​of basketball, such as commitment and teamwork, which are the same values ​​of CaixaBank in its day-to-day life”, he pointed out.

Meanwhile, the president of the Castilla-La Mancha Basketball Federation, José Esteban Gálvez, gave his “thank you” to the City Council, CaixaBank and the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) for showing their “trust” in them. “We are in an impressive environment, in which basketball returns to its essence, which is the street. Many thanks also to all of you who have participated,” he said.

FEB Ambassador Fernando Romay wanted to highlight that this day in Toledo has been “yet another example of all the values ​​of Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank”. “A basketball Sunday in the street, a party, in this magnificent setting, with these hundreds of boys and girls and their families having a good time and sharing the enthusiasm for our sport. The FEB and CaixaBank are both with the team that is playing today on Eurobasket as with all of you”, he stressed.

The FEB launched the Plaza 3×3 program in 2012, from its first edition with CaixaBank. Since its inception, the circuit has reached 113 stops in 43 cities throughout Spain and has had 50,000 participants and more than 300,000 visitors. Always with the fundamental collaboration of the Town Halls and the Autonomous Institutions, and the commitment of the Autonomous Federations.
