Tokyo hosts the 2025 World Athletics Championships

MADRID, 15 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The World Athletics Council, the International Athletics Federation, announced Thursday that Tokyo will host the 2025 World Championships in Outdoor Athletics.

The body of the Federation is meeting these days in Oregon (United States), headquarters of the 2022 World Cup that starts this Friday, July 15. The decision means that the great stars of the beautiful game will soon return to the Olympic Stadium in the Japanese capital, venue of the recent Tokyo 2020 Games.

In 2025, Tokyo will have the opportunity to fill its stadium to see the best athletes in the world, after last year they suffered from the restrictions of the coronavirus pandemic. Nairobi, Silesia and Singapore were the other candidates to host the event.
