This will be the pension pay in 2022: when, how much and why it is charged

The beginning of the year is usually higher expenses, derived from the annual costs as well as the payments for Christmas that suppose the fearsome January cost. However, there is a special case where January traditionally arrives with an extra income called paguilla. It occurs with pensions and for this 2022 it will be the last time that such payment will take place.

In one of the last appearances of the course, the Minister of Social Security, José Luis Escrivá, announced that the investment destined to the paguillas would reach for this new year the 1,900 million euros. A traditional expense for pensioners, which however will have for this course his last admission when the reform of the pension system enters into force in 2022.

Likewise, Escrivá was in charge of remembering it, and one of the modifications contemplated in the new text is that pensions are updated based on the average CPI of the last year and not based on estimates. In other words, these grants will be renewed throughout the course, so it will not be necessary for the Government to undertake such a deviation in January.

Why the payment is charged

A help that always arrives with the first month of the year, in order to offset the rise in prices and that, in general, it is always high as this growth in the CPI is greater than the revaluation carried out by the Executive.

In this way, as there was an increase between December 2020 and November 2021 of 2.5% over the CPI and given that benefits rose 0.9%, the difference that corresponds to charge is 1.6% for all pensioners who receive 14 payments, including beneficiaries of the Minimum Living Income.

When the payment is collected

As is customary with most pension payments, this income is made throughout the second half of January where each bank has an estimated payment date. Usually the day 25, this will be the date when the highest income is recorded once again … although it will depend on the bank in question.

How much is the 2022 pay

With all this, for this first month of the year some Income between 220 and 340 euros according to the minimum and maximum amounts applied to each benefit, while for those of widowhood it will be 166 euros. This was explained by Escrivá, understanding that this amount is calculated by applying the difference of 1.6% as received annually.

A payment that is dismissed for this 2022, in which pensions will already be automatically revalued according to the increase in the CPI, but that leaves a small extra payment for this month of January to help pensioners to face the dreaded January cost.
