This is ‘Janja’, the first lady of Brazil who will share lunch with Doña Letizia: feminist, eco and animal lover

A historical militant of the Workers’ Party (she joined when she was 17), she occupies an active and leading role in the political force.

Lula, 77, made public his relationship with Janja, 56, in 2019, two years after the politician was widowed by his first wife, Maria Letícia. They got married in May of last year. However, they have known each other since long before, in the 1990s. She had just graduated in Sociology at the University of Paraná and he was preparing for the presidential elections. Rosângela’s involvement in Lula’s political career was complete in his last presidential campaign. Thanks to her work, her husband is more committed to the rights of LGTBI people.

Janja, an animal lover, has two dogs. Behind the animal welfare policies is she, who is also very sensitive to the environment, sustainability and climate change; and dedicated to the protection of children and their fight against child sexual exploitation.
