This Friday the new president of the Women’s League could be known

The race for the presidency of the new Women’s Professional Soccer League faces its final stretch. Tomorrow, Friday, the term expires for the pre-candidates to present the four necessary endorsements in order to be able to aspire to the position. At the moment, the pre-candidacies of Maria Teixidor, Ainhoa Tirapu and Beatriz Álvarez, who must present these four endorsements from the clubs in order to aspire to the position.

The electoral process began last Friday, May 13, and ends on the 20th, both inclusive. The applicants have been working during these last weeks to obtain the maximum number of guarantees, which are personal and non-transferable.

However, it could be the case that sufficient guarantees have not been obtained, which would lead to no electoral process. From what has transpired in the last few hours, it could be that only Beatrice Alvarez, the great favorite to take over the presidency, has fulfilled this task, since it would almost certainly start with ten endorsements from the 16 clubs in the Women’s League. If so, there would be no elections and this Friday there would already be an unofficial president for the future competition that must be ratified later.

Of the supposed six endorsements that are up in the air, it remains to be seen if they would go to the pre-candidacy formed by María Teixidor and Reyes Bellver or that of the former soccer player Ainhoa Tirapu and Dolores Martelli. Or, it would be necessary to know if any club, such as Barça and Real Madrid, decide to abstain.

At the moment, everything is up in the air waiting for the situation to be clarified tomorrow, Friday. Hence the next step would be to ratify the new president.
