They are the joy of the Camp Nou

Long queues at the gates to get in almost two hours before the match, world attendance records, constant chants from start to finish, colorful Barça landscape, smiling players and dedicated audience. These are factors that have been difficult to find for a long time in the home games of the men’s first team of the FC Barcelona and that have characterized those of the feminine in the two duels that have played in less than a month in the azulgrana temple.

It had been a long time since I heard the Barça stands roar so loudly during games, that the stands did not shake, that the rival did not hesitate every time they controlled as a result of the deafening noise. And so it happened this Friday, as it did against the Real Madrid on March 30, during the ninety minutes of the game and almost a quarter of an hour after the final whistle. Because surely, of the 91,648 spectators that broke another world attendance record, very few had left the Stadium when the players gave the lap of honor and thanked the encouragement received. The ‘Where’s Florentino?’ sounded again. and to that hit was added the most anticipated: ‘Yes, yes, yes, we’re going to Turin’. The Barça public, like the team, wants more, and no one forgets that the first Champions League in the team’s history, and the only one to date, was won in a cold stadium in Gothenburg without fans because of the pandemic.

On this occasion, the mosaic was replaced by the Barça flags, for this reason to innovate and change a little the appearance of the hundreds of thousands of photographs that were going to go down in history.

The Barça players once again demonstrated that the Camp Nou crowd doesn’t bite, that it’s okay to get close, that it doesn’t cost anything to stay a few minutes after the match signing autographs in the front rows and attending to the fans who pay for a ticket, they buy a T-shirt and dream of seeing it up close and taking home an autograph or a photo. That’s why they don’t get mugged in cars when they leave the Sports City. The fans know that if they want something from them, they just have to wait until the end of a game. That also makes them unique and special. And in difficult times for a Camp Nou where any past time seems better, they are the joy of the Barça stadium. The path is marked, at stake, work and attitude. You just have to follow it.
