MADRID, 1 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Dutch driver Dilano van’t Hoff has died this Saturday at the age of 18 as a result of the serious accident suffered at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in the European Regional Formula Championship (FRECA), which celebrates its fourth round of the season at the belgian layout.
“MP Motorsport is deeply saddened to confirm that our driver, Dilano van’t Hoff, has passed away as a result of an accident during the second race of the Alpine European Regional Formula Championship at Spa-Francorchamps,” his team confirmed.
During the last stage of the second race of the day there was an accident at the entrance of the Kemmel straight, where visibility was poor due to the rain. Among those involved were the Swiss Joshua Dufek, the American Enzo Scionti, the Irishman Adam Fitzgerald and Van’t Hoff himself.
It was these last two who staged the most serious action, with Fitzgerald brutally impacting, in the shape of a ‘T’, against the Dutchman’s car. Both were taken to the hospital, where Van’t Hoff died after failing to overcome his injuries.
Van’t Hoff, who in 2021 won the Spanish F4 Championship, was sixteenth in the FRECA general classification, which he was contesting for the second consecutive year.
