The world revenues of women’s elite sport will reach 2,350 million dollars (more than 2.1 billion euros) in this year 2025, according to the forecasts of the ‘Deloitte’ financial, which estimates that this will be the amount combining revenues from parties, commercial and retransmission rights, a significant increase with respect to 2024.
Last year, high -level women’s sport generated 1,880 million (more than 1.7 billion euros), which, if confirmed by this forecast this year, would represent a 240 percent increase in four years, after ‘Deloitte’ valued the 2022 market in 692 million dollars (632 million euros).
In addition, the 2024 figure far exceeded the projection of November 2023, of 1,280 million dollars (1.1 million euros), and Jennifer Haskel, of Deloitte Sports Business Group, believes that “the growth of women’s sport has continued to exceed expectations, since various competitions, leagues, clubs and athletes generate important benefits in spite of having limited resources.”
“It is essential that the sector go beyond the short -term metrics and focuses on the evolution of the structures and legacy programs. Industry leaders must find the appropriate balance between maintaining this growth, establishing solid bases and maximizing long -term success opportunities,” he added.
Among the events that can help this increase continue is this summer’s women’s world cup in England or the 2027 Women’s Football World Cup in Brazil. “Great events are increasing visibility and participation, but it is necessary to take deliberate measures after these great moments to boost the national success of leagues and clubs,” said Haskel.
“It is no longer enough to house an event: organizers must be bold and think about new ways of attracting fans and boosting participation even after crowning the champion,” said the directive.
