The Mendizorrotza Sports Center in Vitoria-Gasteiz will host the LF Endesa Super Cup, the first title of the Spanish women’s basketball season to be played on October 8 and 9 with Kutxabank Araski, Perfumerías Avenida, Valencia BC and Spar Girona.
The format will be that of the latest edition. Two semifinals that will be played on October 8 and the final on Sunday 9, once the first day of the League has been played.
It will be the twentieth edition of the LF Endesa Super Cup, which has been held since the 2003-04 season. Until 2020, a match was played between the League champion and the Cup champion, but in 2021 the number of participants was increased to four.
Perfumerías Avenida goes to Vitoria-Gasteiz as champion of the League and Cup. In the case of Valencia BC, they obtained their place as second in the domestic competition, while Spar Girona does so as runner-up in the Copa de la Reina. Kutxabank Araski will be the host and will debut in this competition.
Valencia BC defends the title won last season at the Santiago Martín de Tenerife, although the ‘queens’ of the competition are the players from Perfumerías Avenida, champions nine times. Spar Girona has the 2015 and 2019 editions in its list of winners, while it will be the first participation of Kutxabank Araski.
The LF Endesa Super Cup has been played eight times in Salamanca, five in Valencia and another two in Girona. The rest of the cities that have hosted the tournament are Barcelona, Leganés, Bilbao and San Cristóbal de La Laguna.
