The VII Anantapur Ultramarathon will be run on January 22 in India and in 20 other cities

The VII Anantapur Ultramarathon 2022 (AUM) will be held on January 22 simultaneously in India and in more than 20 cities nationally and internationally, a solidarity race that commemorates the arrival of Vicente and Anna Ferrer to the Asian country and that will carried out in favor of the Vicente Ferrer Foundation.

Thus, in addition to India, it will be run in different cities such as Barcelona, ​​Córdoba, Huelva, Las Palmas, León, Madrid, Mallorca, Murcia, Tarragona, Tarrasa, Tenerife, Toledo, Seville; as well as in cities in Germany, Australia, Ireland, Italy, Turkey or the United States.

The solidarity race, in which more than a thousand runners will participate worldwide, is an initiative of the project “1Km, 1vida”, in favor of the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, and will be organized entirely by the participants of previous editions to achieve funds for the construction of an orthopedic and rehabilitation center in Dornala (India), which will support more than 130 populations in the area.

In 2022, the objective is to produce a movement that combines kilometers and efforts and “to be closer than ever” to India, supporting the population of Anantapur and the state of Andra Pradesh that is suffering a very severe crisis due to COVID- 19. Participants from past editions – both national and international – who have lived this experience and know the work of the FVF have become the true promoters of the VII UAM.

In addition, this year Valencia becomes the first official test of the race in our country “VII AUM Ciudad de Valencia” and expects to host about 340 participants.

Anantapur Ultramarathon is an initiative created by Juan Manuel Viera, Canarian ultrarunner and volunteer of the Vicente Ferrer Foundation (FVF) who in 2015 decided to start a sporting and solidarity challenge to fight poverty in India. This edition will mobilize 120 national and international teams, made up of a maximum of 40 people each, who will run 10-kilometer relays until completing the 170-kilometer race. A tour that will take place in each city in unique circuits.
