The use of artificial intelligence to prepare summaries, the main novelty of LaLiga for the new season

MADRID, 11 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

LaLiga will use artificial intelligence for the automatic creation of summaries and clips of the matches of the new First and Second Division season, as one of the main innovations in 2022-2023, as part of the digital content strategy, according to a statement issued this Thursday.

For the new course, which begins this Friday, LaLiga has partnered with the world leader in AI-based sports video technology, WSC Sports, whose platform uses advanced AI and machine learning technologies to analyze live sports broadcasts, identify all the events that occur in a match, and in real time create and publish personalized videos.

According to the statement, this innovative way of creating summaries will be used by LaLiga in all its digital media for the more than 800 LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank matches. Content created via the WSC Sports platform will also be distributed to clubs to help “increase reach and provide a new experience to fans across the competition.”

“LaLiga will also use WSC Sports’ innovative Graphics360 graphics solution, which automatically adds graphic and contextual elements to each video to facilitate personalization for brands and sponsors,” the employers’ association reported.

This new LaLiga season will continue to have 4K-HDR production provided by the MEDIAPRO Group, with more than 30 cameras for the most outstanding matches. In addition, there will be a high-definition cinematographic camera, as well as a 21-meter-high aerial camera and “acrobatic” drones. Fans will continue to enjoy a multi-camera feed for broadcasts and a real-time stats module.

The advanced statistics portal of the LaLiga project -BeyondStats- with Microsoft, which publishes pre-match reports analyzing the main metrics of both teams in the competition, will also be available.

On the other hand, the retransmission and narration of the matches will seek to be “fresher and closer to the viewer”, for which there will be images from inside the narration booths. In addition, in some matches celebrities and personalities from outside the world of football present at the matches will be interviewed, with the aim of promoting “color and entertainment during the broadcast”.

Carlos Martínez will lead the group that will give voice to the LaLiga Santander matches, a team of narrators that will complete José Sanchís, Alba Oliveros, Héctor Ruiz, Jordi Pons and Lluis Izquierdo. Along with them, LaLiga will feature commentators such as Iker Casillas, Fernando Morientes, Gaizka Mendieta, Axel Torres, Esteban Suárez, Jofre Mateu, Miguel Torres, among others.
