Last days of summer. The Infanta Cristina says goodbye to August with a getaway to Bidart. The same setting where a year and a half ago we saw Iñaki Urdangarin and Ainhoa Armentia ‘in love’ walking along the beach holding hands. It is one of the favorite corners of the daughter of the emeritus Kings. And to this landscape of surfing beaches she has returned accompanied by two of her children, Miguel and Irene. Along with them was also Claire Liebaert, Iñaki’s mother, whom she is very fond of. These will be the last vacations of the King’s sister before closing her divorce agreement with Urdangarin. It is published by the magazine Hola.
Bidart is the hot spot for Urdangarin and Ainhoa Armentia. It was on these beaches that the media bombshell of their relationship arose and they returned there last summer after overcoming a crisis. That balsamic effect of this idyllic Basque-French place also works for the Infanta Cristina. The former Duchess of Palma has traveled to this refuge in San Juan de Luz with her mother-in-law, Claire Liebaert, one of her sisters-in-law and some of her nephews. Both mother-in-law and daughter-in-law are very close by an unbreakable affection.
The infanta, wearing a khaki green cap, basic white T-shirt and jean shorts, watched her son Miguel surfing on the crest of the wave. She was sitting on a rock, looking thoughtful. Irene, in a Vichy checkered bikini, was walking next to her mother. The Urdangarin youngest, who is enjoying this first summer of her 18 years, blended in with Cristina in short jeans, as reported by the publication.
This has been a traveling summer for the daughter of Juan Carlos I and Doña Sofía. A few weeks ago he traveled, also with Irene and Miguel, to Greece, where he met Alexia and her husband, Carlos Morales. His visit to Palma, about which he talked so much, did not take place. The Kings and Queen Sofía were spending the summer in Mallorca. So there was no such family reunification. Elena didn’t show up either. It was a gesture of pride. Elena, at that time, was with her father, in Sanxenxo, in the regattas of the Ría de Pontevedra.
September regattas in Sanxenxo
In September, between the 29th and 30th, the regatta for 6mR category sailboats that bears his name, Rey Juan Carlos I, is held in the same Galician waters. The sporting event, sponsored by El Corte Inglés Master, celebrates its eighth edition . Perhaps we will see the emeritus sailing aboard his Bribón 500 because, as he himself said, he will return to Galicia “many times”.
