This Wednesday was celebrated Andalucia’s day and many well-known faces have gathered at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville to enjoy a gala in which some of the most illustrious Andalusians on the social scene have been recognized. Among the guests, Cayetano Martínez de Irujo and his sister Eugeniawho have met at the entrance arch and have not even said ‘good morning’ to each other.
The meeting between the brothers was uncomfortable and very tense, since the Duchess of Montoro was accompanied by her husband, Narcís Rebollo, whom the Count of Salvatierra has greeted effusively, shaking his hand and giving him a smile. When it seemed that Eugenia might join in the greeting, she turned her back on her brother and entered the room without looking at him if she wanted to.
The two youngest children of the Duchess of Alba were close, so much so that Cayetano was in charge of leading Eugenia to the altar at her wedding with Fran Rivera. However, after the death of her mother, family disputes and disagreements marked a distance that has become unbridgeable between them. Eugenia does not forgive her brother for publishing her memoirs (with stories and experiences that she does not share) nor for her latest reproaches after the investigation by the Ministry of the Environment in three of her family farms. . Cayetano assured that he tried to legalize the situation but they did not allow it and Eugenia, normally discreet, burst out: “Do you know what happens to Cayetano? That he takes advantage of the fact that the rest of us don’t talk. I just don’t understand him. The problem is that he takes advantage of the fact that the rest of us brothers don’t open our mouths.
