The Administrative Court of Sports (TAD) has annulled the proclamation of Javier Hernanz as president of the Royal Spanish Charage Federation (RFEP) after partially estimating the appeal presented by the president of the Galician Federation of Paragüismo and former candidate for the RFEP, José Alfredo Bea, and the elections must be repeated.
“The TAD has decided to cancel this resolution regarding the proclamation of Javier Hernanz Agüía as president, and has ordered to ride the electoral process for the election of President of the Royal Spanish Federation of Paragüismo at the time prior to the fixation of the deadline for the presentation of candidacies, “said the RFEP.
Bea filed a resource against the TAD for the resolution of the Electoral Board confirming the appointment of Hernanz on January 25, ensuring that there had been “serious irregularities” in the electoral process.
Previously, Bea had presented to the Superior Sports Council (CSD) a complaint against Hernanz and against the Director General and Legal Advisor of the RFEP, primitive Ramón Vega Álvarez. Among the reasons, the president of the Galician Federation highlighted the “undue intervention in the electoral process” and the “improper use of electoral guarantees.”
According to the federative agency, the resolution issued this Friday “is final in the administrative route and establishes that the Electoral Board must proceed in accordance with the provisions of the TAD.” “In case of disagreement with the resolution, contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Administrative Contentious Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid, within two months from its notification,” says the resolution.
“The Royal Spanish Charage Federation reiterates its commitment to respect for legality and transparency in all its electoral procedures and processes, and will continue to work to guarantee the proper functioning of the Federation and the representation of the interests of the community of canoeing” , the RFEP indicated.
The Asturian leader, winning expalist of up to seven medals in Europeans and World, presides over the Royal Spanish Paragüismo Federation since 2021, when a motion of censure against the then headquarters responsible for national canoeing, Pedro Pablo Barrios. On January 25, he was re -elected after obtaining 59 of the 72 votes cast in the elections held at the headquarters of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) in Madrid.
