Against all odds, the Barça squad will not sit at the negotiating table for the salary cut this Tuesday. And the reason is not the trip to Turin. The players will send a lawyer but they have not wanted to sit down because they understand that they have not been given legal guarantees to have independence as a group.
On the eve of the Clásico, Barcelona's first team had decided to sit at the negotiating table for salary cuts with a view to this course, more dramatic even than the previous one due to the loss of income of the club from the beginning of it as a result of the Covid-19. The players had agreed after the club confirmed to them that it would individually negotiate the case of the first team, something that, on the other hand, it was already doing with some players.
Barça have renewed Ter Stegen, Lenglet, De Jong and Piqué these days to postpone payments. Dest, Trincao or Pjanic had already signed under those conditions and these days they are also negotiating with Alba, Busquets, Sergi Roberto, Coutinho or Dembélé. The most unique case is that of Messi, who ends his contract in June 2021. The negotiating table must be resolved on November 5.
