The Spanish team achieves bronze in mixed mountain ski relays in Lausanne

MADRID, Jan. 14 (SportsFinding) –

The Spanish team formed Ot Ferrer, María Costa, Marc Ràdua and Ares Torra has won the bronze medal in the mixed mountain skiing event on Tuesday in the fifth day of the Youth Winter Olympic Games that are being held in Lausanne (Switzerland).

At the Villars Sur Ollon station, the Swiss team took the gold followed by the French, who took the silver with only two seconds of advantage over the Spanish team, which crossed the finish line at 37:13.

Costa was the first to leave and positioned the team among the first. Ràdua left behind the American and Chinese team and Ares Torra and Ot Ferrer were able to hold the position and fight until the last second to be on the relay podium.

The Spanish coach, Toti Martín, stressed that everyone has done “a great relief” even though they felt “somewhat tired” after Monday's day. “With few failures we have been there, fighting against Italy and Fracia. We have been between second and third position throughout the relay,” he said.

“We have taken the cat to the water in the relay of Ot, the last to leave. He has managed to maintain the position of the team with the threat of the Italian who came very strong from behind and struggling to catch the Frenchman,” he added.

In this way, the Spanish participation in skiing is closed, with a swag of three medals: the medal of this Tuesday, the gold of María Costa and the bronze of Ot Ferrer, both in the sprint mode.
