The Spanish media published 23,400 pieces of information during the months of August and September between digital media, television, radio and written press, and nearly 2,000 daily news items related to the Paris Paralympic Games, as reported this Thursday by the Spanish Paralympic Committee ( CPE).

The organization, which considers that these figures are “unpublished levels”, indicated that all these publications obtained an advertising value equivalent to 308 million euros, according to the data provided by Kantar Onclusive and Servimedia, which represents an increase of much more double (+135%) the value obtained from information on the Tokyo Games held in 2021.

In this sense, a notable part of this great impact corresponded to the broadcasts that TVE made about the Paralympic Games, which reached 20 percent of the total Spanish population. The number of contacts obtained by all the broadcasts and programs about the Games on Teledeporte and La 2 amounted to 9.6 million viewers, according to the data provided by RTVE to the CPE.

Furthermore, in the digital part, the event registered 1.4 million live views through the ‘RTVE Play’ platform, tripling the figure registered in Tokyo 2020. Added to this figure are 550,000 views from 202,000 users on video on demand. , 200 percent more than in the previous edition.

The most watched space of all the days of the Games on public television was the Opening Ceremony, broadcast simultaneously on La 2 and Teledeporte, with an audience of 294,000 viewers, a 3.6 percent screen share and a total of 2,736 ,000 unique viewers.

The most watched moment of all the competitions on TDP was an athletics semifinal, the women’s 200 meters T12 category, with the Spanish Melani Berges in the running, which registered 191,000 viewers and a screen share of 2.4. For its part, on ‘RTVE Play’ the triathlon finals were the most followed live events, registering 406,000 live views.

For its part, the nightly summary program about the day, with the participation of former Paralympic swimmer Carla Casals as a specialist, marked its best record on the night of Friday, September 6, with 163,000 viewers and 2.1 share.

Regarding the internet and social networks, the CPE profiles registered 7 million views on Instagram, 2.9 million impressions on X and a reach of 563,000 on TikTok and 524,000 on Facebook.

In addition, the Paris 2024 special on ‘paralimpicos.es’ became an “effective tool” to follow the results of the Spaniards in real time and also to facilitate media coverage through its ‘Press Room’ . This website registered spectacular increases compared to those obtained during Tokyo 2020 with 914,000 page visits and 466,000 users, which represents almost quadrupling the data from the previous Paralympic event.

The CPE stressed that Paris 2024 confirmed the definitively global nature of the Paralympic Games, with a number of 160 countries reached by the television broadcast signal, covering live, for the first time in history, the 22 disciplines. of the Paralympic program.

In this sense, he pointed out that for the first time a limit of 2,200 journalists who could be accredited was imposed, in order to contain the very numerous demands derived from the increase in interest on the part of the media, as well as the proximity of numerous European countries to the French capital.
