The Spanish badminton player Lucía Rodríguez has become number one in the world junior doubles ranking, after winning European gold alongside Nikol Carulla, an achievement that comes just before the World Championship in the category that starts next Monday in Santander .
According to the Spanish Badminton Federation (FESBA), Rodríguez is the first Spaniard to reach the top of the world doubles ranking, a milestone for Spanish badminton. In addition to the Galician, the Alicante Nikol Carulla has been placed in the 21st position, being the 14th in all of Europe.
The couple formed by Rodríguez and Carulla, in addition to winning gold in women’s doubles, also managed to be part of the bronze that Spain achieved in the team event. The next challenge they face is even more important, since between October 17 and 30 they will play the Junior World Cup in Santander.
