“The Spanish embassy has told me to look for my life”

Many are the people who are currently trying to leave Ukraine as a result of the Russian invasion. This is the case of Jorge López, current sports director of FC Krybvas and former Espanyolwho has spoken in #Go about how their situation is in the Ukrainian country.

How are you, where are you?: “We are far from Kiev, going to the Romanian border. Looking forward to getting out and having this drink.”

Do you receive aid from the Spanish Embassy?: “Not the Spanish embassy in my case. It has told me to find a life for myself and to go to a border by my own means. The club has provided us with a car and facilities, we are going there. Yes, it is true that both the The Spanish Federation, AFE, the Higher Sports Council… have contacted us. When we leave through the Romanian border, the federation will offer us a plane tomorrow. That is where I have to thank its president and all the people. to the embassy, a little disappointed.

How is the fuel issue?: “It was said that it was not easy to load the vehicles: “It is not easy. Gas stations are full. There are times they said they ran out of supplies. We had a full tank and we will have to stop once. We have seen gas stations and they are all operational. I hope we don’t have a problem.”

With what feeling do you leave Ukraine, leave behind a colleague or close friend that you are worried about?: “The city where I have been there has not been a ‘trouble.’ what it will lead to. All my solidarity with the Ukrainians, because they have shown me a spectacular feeling towards their country. There are many people who have stayed here, knowing that they will die. They enlist in the army to help their country and not abandon it.”

And your family?: “They are in Spain, Valencia. They are fine but worried, and calm because we are in contact at all times and that I am fine. Wishing I could get there and be with them because things have turned ugly”.
