The six casualties due to injury of the female Athletic

The female Athletic squad, which started last Monday the preseason 2020-2021, works in this first week of training with the casualties of six footballers, all of them due to physical problems.

Two of them, Nerea Nevado and Naroa Uriarte, exercise outside the group because of the injuries that occurred in June during the end-of-season training sessions that Athletic carried out in Zamudio.

According to the medical report published by the rojiblanco club, Nevado presents an “edema in the greater adductor of his right thigh” and Uriarte a “myofascial rupture of the right anterior rectum”. In both cases, the players are expected to “progressively join group training throughout the coming week.”

For his part, Ane Azkona, Nekane Díez, Jone Ibáñez and Marta Perea, long-term injured, evolve favorably from their respective ailments, although they have not yet set the date to receive medical discharge.

Ane Azkona is in the initial phase of rehabilitation for the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and menisci in the right knee, which was operated on on the 13th.

Marta Perea and Jone Ibáñez, on the other hand, are in the final phase of recovery from a “medial impingement” in the right ankle and a “medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction”, respectively.

Nekane Díez, finally, is “pending evolution” after the “arthrolysis in the synovial plica” to which she was subjected on May 28.

To alleviate these absences, the Women's coach, Ángel Villacampa, has the presence of some new faces, such as the goalkeeper Amaia Peña, who already trained last June in Zamudio with the team, and the players of the subsidiary Bibiane Schulze and Mariana Cerro, who will complete the preseason.

The zurigorri team will not travel this time to carry out the usual preparation stage and will carry out the entire preseason at the Lezama facilities.

Athletic will complete seven weeks of preparation before the start of a new edition of the First Iberdrola, which will start on Saturday, September 5.
