The Provincial Court of Madrid considers that the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) tried to exclude the MEDIAPRO group from the tender for the television rights of the Copa del Rey football seasons 2019-20 to 2021-22, and has sentenced to compensate him with up to 12.3 million euros.

“We declare that the RFEF has incurred in an action contrary to articles 2 of the Law for the Defense of Competition and 102 of the Founding Treaty of the EU and we condemn the defendant to compensate the plaintiff in the profits foregone for not having been awarded the management of the licensed rights for Spain, Europe and International”, reads the ruling.
The sentence establishes that the RFEF must indemnify Grup MEDIAPRO for the profits not received up to a maximum of 12.3 million euros.
“This obsession of Luis Rubiales for harming Grup MEDIAPRO and the reiteration of illegal conduct later sanctioned by the courts only undermines the institution’s prestige and diminishes its financial resources due to the compensation it must pay,” he concludes. the note.
