The RFEC appoints José Almagro as new technical director and Javier Ruiz de Larrinaga as cyclocross coach

MADRID, 30 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Board of Directors of the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC) has appointed José Almagro as the new national technical director, and Javier Ruiz de Larrinaga as national coach of men’s and women’s cyclocross, two important appointments for the formation of its new technical-sports organization chart.

José Almagro, with a degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, will be the head of the RFEC’s sports area during the next Olympic cycle and in charge of designing the RFEC’s sports activity and coordinating the work of all the national selectors.

Almagro, linked to cycling since his childhood, was a professional road racer and has extensive experience after having been general secretary of the Madrid Cycling Federation since 2007. The new technical director commented that assuming the position is “a challenge” that he faces with “excitement and the security” of being able to carry out the work with “guarantees” thanks to his “previous background and the great team” he will have.

For his part, Javier Ruiz de Larrinaga, five-time Spanish cyclocross champion and one of the great national legends of the specialty, will assume the position of cyclocross coach after having successfully served as Basque regional coach.

Ruiz de Larrinaga stated that cyclocross has “given everything” in the field of cycling. “It is a challenge of great importance and I really want to contribute as much as possible to the Spanish CX, which is experiencing a great moment thanks to the excellent work carried out in recent years by all levels of our sport,” he added.
