The RFEA hosts 18 Ukrainians in Spain for 50 days, nine elite athletes

The Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA) explained on Wednesday the support of Spanish athletics for Ukrainian athletes, since the war broke out in Ukraine last March, with the reception in Spain of a group of 18 Ukrainians (athletes, families and coaches), with nine elite athletes.

Since the Russian invasion began, the president of the RFEA, Raúl Chapado, addressed the president of the Ukrainian Federation, as well as the presidents of World Athletics and European Athletics, to offer their support in welcoming Ukrainian athletes.

Since then, the letters between the two federations have been constant and, after several months of work, the Spanish Spanish Federation has welcomed a group of 18 Ukrainians to Spain, who arrived in Alfaz del Pi (Alicante) on Tuesday. The group will prepare the summer season in La Nucía, with their sights set on the World Championship in Oregon, and they will be in Alicante until June 30.

Among the athletes stand out four continental medalists Andrii Protsenko, Anastasiia Bryzgina, Sergii Smelyk and Serhii Nykyforov. The RFEA has made all its resources available to the athletes, their coaches and their families, so that they can prepare for the outdoor season in the best possible way.

As Chapado already announced, the athletes will be able to participate in La Nucía as guests in the Ibero-American Championship, and they will also be able to compete in the different Spanish Meetings. In addition, to contribute to your stay in Alicante for 50 days, the Ibero-American popular races that will be held in Torrevieja on May 22, both the Half Marathon and the 5 km for Ibero-American Women will do so under the motto “Ibero-America runs for Ukraine “.

There will be two races whose registrations will go to help this group of Ukrainian athletes. In addition, so that everyone can contribute, a number 0 has been enabled for €5 and €3, which will also be used to help athletes, coaches and family members.
