Arsenal is about to close its first big signing for the 2022-2023 season. This is Fábio Vieira, a promising 22-year-old Portuguese attacking midfielder for whom the London club will pay 40 million euros to Porto.

The agreement between the parties is practically complete. Despite the fact that the termination clause of the player’s contract is 50 million euros, Porto is willing to accept the offer of 40 million euros in the absence of specifying the payment conditions.
For his part, Fábio Vieira has already reached an agreement with Arsenal for five seasons, until June 30, 2017, and he is scheduled to pass the relevant medical check-up tomorrow.
Best player of the European Under-21 Championship in 2021
Fábio Vieira, the promising ’10’ that MIkel Arteta will have at his command, has not yet debuted with the Portuguese national team but has played 21 games with the U-21 and in 2021 he was chosen as the best player of the European Championship of that category despite losing the final against Germany 1-0.
A product of Porto’s academy, Fábio Vieira made his first team debut in June 2020 and his record includes two Primeira Ligas (2019-2020 and 2021-2022) as well as a Portuguese Cup (2021-2022), so in the last one participated in the conquest of the double.
In the last Primeira Liga he was the second player with the most assists (14) and also scored 6 goals.
The third reinforcement for Arteta
Fábio Vieira will be Mikel Arteta’s third signing after American goalkeeper Matt Turner (New England Revolution) and young Brazilian forward Marquinhos (Sao Paulo).
